For the first time in nearly a decade, the Toronto Blue Jays are in the ALCS. The city of Toronto, and even the entire country, is rallying behind this Blue Jays squad as they look to make a deep run in this year’s playoffs. With a deep rotation, solid defence and clutch hitting, Toronto has all the pieces needed to compete for a championship.
The Blue Jays have gone from playoff longshots in spring training to World Series contenders in October. Their odds have shifted quite a bit over the course of the season, but there’s still plenty of value out there for sports bettors to explore as Toronto heads deeper into October.
Long Road to October
Things weren’t so great to start the season, with the Blue Jays struggling out of the gates. The team was under .500 through May, which left them as longshots in the World Series futures market. If you managed to lock down their betting odds back then, you got in at the perfect time and now hold a ticket with some serious upside.
Toronto rode a strong June and July to jump back into the AL Wild Card race. They got reliable production from Vladimir Guerrero Jr., along with excellent offensive seasons from guys like Bo Bichette and George Springer. Their pitching staff was led by Kevin Gausman, with the team adding some depth to the rotation by acquiring Shane Bieber before the trade deadline.
The Blue Jays got hot just as the team was coming into the home stretch, with an outstanding September lifting them into first place in the AL East. It came down to the final day of the regular season, but Toronto held off the Yankees to claim their first divisional crown since 2016.
Blue Jays vs. The Bronx
By winning the AL East over New York, the Blue Jays skipped the Wild Card round, only to end up facing the Yankees in the ALDS. The series couldn’t have started off better for Canada’s team; Toronto crushed New York 10-1 in Game 1. Guerrero Jr. got things started with a first-inning home run and went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI, while catcher Alejandro Kirk hit two long balls of his own.
It was more of the same in Game 2, as the Blue Jays went up 11-0 and never looked back. The Yankees fell behind early in this one, but the game was blown wide open in the fourth inning when Guerrero Jr. hit a grand slam that had the entire Rogers Centre going wild.
Toronto arrived in the Bronx on a high, looking to close out the series in three quick games. Things began as well as Jays fans could have hoped for, with Toronto jumping out to a 6-1 lead early. It all fell apart from there, with Bieber getting pulled in the third inning and Judge rising to the occasion for New York, going 3 for 4 with a home run and 4 RBIs. The Yankees ended up scoring seven unanswered runs to beat Toronto 9-6 and fight their way back into this series.
The Blue Jays went into a pivotal Game 4 with another chance to close things out, and this time they made sure to get the job done. Toronto went with a bullpen game and had eight different pitchers combine to shut down the Yankees in a series-clinching 5-2 victory. Vladdy and Springer each drove in a run, Addison Barger had three hits and Nathan Lukes had a key two-run single.
With the win, the Blue Jays advance to the ALCS and now await the winner between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers. Toronto has reached a fever pitch, with everyone in the city cheering on Canada’s only MLB team. Even during the Maple Leafs home opener versus the Canadiens, the fans at Scotiabank Arena were chanting the Blue Jays’ name.
ALCS & World Series Betting Preview
We still don’t know who Toronto will play in the ALCS, or who they may face if they reach the World Series, but that doesn’t mean you can’t bet on the Blue Jays’ October push. At -120 to win the ALCS, Bodog has the Blue Jays as the odds-on favourite to capture the pennant.
Toronto took the season series against the Tigers and Mariners in 2025. They won four of seven games against Detroit and four of six against Seattle, so they should have a strong ALCS matchup no matter which team they face. The Blue Jays also have a major advantage playing at home, where they had a dominant 54-27 record. With the best record in the AL this season, Toronto is assured home-field advantage in the best-of-seven championship series.
The team still has some business to take care of in the American League, but don’t let that stop you from betting on the Blue Jays to go all the way. They’re currently +325 to win the World Series, trailing only the Dodgers (+180). These odds are updated every day, so it might just pay to lock in your Blue Jays World Series bet now. If they jump out to a lead in the ALCS, you can expect their World Series odds to drop significantly.
The Smart Play in October
Toronto is riding high after knocking out the Yankees and now has their sights set on the pennant. The team has consistently proven that they have what it takes to compete with the best teams in baseball. If their bats stay hot and they continue to get solid pitching, the Blue Jays could turn this playoff run into something truly special. With all of Canada cheering them on, place a bet on Toronto and ride the wave as they chase a World Series title.
