Entertainment
Show them what you do with me
– Phoenix, “Entertainment” (from the 2013 album Bankrupt!)
According to the Oxford English Dictionary, the word entertain means “to engage, keep occupied, the attention, thoughts, or time (of a person).” That’s exactly what casinos are here to do – Bodog Casino included. But what do you do for fun away from the tables?
For many of our players, the fun continues at our sportsbook, Canada’s No. 1 destination for sports and entertainment betting. Or perhaps you’d like to bet on the horses at our racebook. With all of these gambling options at your fingertips 24/7, why bother doing anything else with your hard-earned leisure time?
Because variety is the spice of life. Our attention wanders if we spend too much time doing one thing – so let’s leave the tables behind for now and look at the other entertainment options you’ll find at live casinos around the world.
Let’s start right here at home with arguably Canada’s most prominent casino destination: Niagara Fallsview Casino Resort. They’re still owned by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, but since 2019, their operations (as well as those at Casino Niagara) have been run by Mohegan. That means you’re getting more or less the same luxe treatment that you’ll find at other Mohegan-run properties, including their own Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.
Formerly known as Mohegan Gaming & Entertainment, these guys take the entertainment part very seriously. Here’s a list (current as we go to press) of what they include in their basic Fallsview Casino Entertainment Package:
– One night at the Sheraton Fallsview, Marriott on the Falls, or Marriott Fallsview
– Two tickets to Avalon Theatre Show in Fallsview Casino
– $10 slot voucher
– $20 dining credit for Morton’s Grille, Milestones on the Falls, and/or Massimo’s Italian Fallsview Restaurant
– Ice-skating for two, with skate rentals at Wayne Gretzky Estates
– Wine Country Touring Pass for two, including complimentary tasting flights
– Free casino shuttle for members and guests
Other entertainment packages for Fallsview Casino can be purchased from related tourism outlets, but everything you see above is standard; you’re getting a textbook combination of luxury accommodation, fine dining, performance arts, and what we’ll loosely call “adventure” with the skating and the wine tours. You’ll find the same kind of template everywhere you go for your casino experience, but with different dining and entertainment options depending on where you travel – and how much you’re willing to spend.
Moving on to the Vegas Strip, we have what the Plaza Hotel & Casino bills as the only all-inclusive hotel package in town. At a starting price of US$125 per person, you get the following:
– Two meals (breakfast and dinner) at Hash House a Go-Go, Fresh Mexican Grill, Pop Up Pizza, and/or Coffee Bar
– Discounted appetizers and cocktails at Oscar’s Steakhouse
– Select bottomless drinks at Omaha Bar and Sportsbook Bar
– 25% off poolside drinks at Pool Bar
– Resort fee waived, giving you free access to covered self-parking (two spaces, standard-size vehicles), fitness centre, rooftop pool, bottled water, baggage storage, local/800 phone calls
This particular package doesn’t include a Vegas tour, or a show per se like the one at Fallsview, although there is a free fireworks display every Friday night during the summer. Your mileage may vary when it comes to the performing arts; perhaps you’d rather skip the theatre and enjoy the free alcohol, even if it’s from the well. But where’s the adventure part of the package? A round of golf would be nice, or maybe an NBA Summer League game, preferably featuring the Toronto Raptors.
If you missed out on last year’s #OnlyAtWynnResorts Macau Experience, which included a three-night stay in a posh Fountain Suite, Illuminarium shows and some very tasty food, at least you can still chow down with one of Wynn Macau’s two exclusive dining offers. There’s the Indulgent Breakfast Retreat, which includes “semi-buffet” breakfast for two at Lakeside Trattoria, but we’ve got our hungry eye on the dinner table at Drunken Fish.
A Michelin Guide “Selected Restaurant” for 2025, Drunken Fish is run by executive chef Zhang Zhicheng, formerly at the Wynn Macau’s Golden Flower restaurant that earned two Michelin stars before folding its tent recently. The next edition of their Guest Chef Dining Series is coming up July 18-19, and will feature Chef Dharshan Munidasa from the celebrated Ministry of Crab in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
This is a big deal. For roughly US$200 (plus $60 for a wine pairing), you get some of the finest seafood in the world, from garlic chili prawns to slow-cooked pepper crab and crispy cod fish. This is a stand-alone offer, but if you’re a serious foodie, make sure to add it to your Breakfast Retreat package, which also gives you free use of the fitness centre and swimming pool.
Now we’re talkin’. There’s no better hotel-casino experience in the world than what you’ll get at the Casino de Monte-Carlo (unless the Ritz Hotel in London, England gets their act together and relaunches their casino), and of all their many luxury offers, this is by far the most luxurious. It’ll cost you about US$25,700, but you’ll get four nights accommodation in a spacious double room, breakfast, and the best views imaginable of the most prestigious race on the Formula 1 circuit.
Is that a bit too pricey for you? No problem: For a mere $14,000 or so, you can book four nights at the Fairmont Monte Carlo instead, and watch the race from the hotel rooftop – right in front of that famous hairpin curve. You also get breakfast and an F1 swag bag. Not a bad deal for the bargain bin.
The next Monaco Grand Prix is the first week of June in 2026, so if you don’t want to wait that long, the Casino de Monte-Carlo “Suite Experience” will give you the following for less than $1,500:
– Three nights accommodation in a suite
– Breakfast
– VIP treatment
– Tour and tasting at the Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo Wine Cellars
Other packages at the Casino de Monte-Carlo include “Instant Yannick Alléno,” where you get the two-star Michelin treatment from one of France’s finest chefs, and the “Monte-Carlo Golf Experience,” with complementary green fees for each day of your stay. Still too much excitement? Book a two-day wellness retreat instead, with cryotherapy, seaweed/mud wrap and massage on Day 1, and a selection of treatments for mind and body on Day 2.
Is this the be-all and end-all of luxury casino entertainment? Of course not. As long as you’re prepared to throw a few extra dollars around, you can get anything you want at Casino de Monte-Carlo. In the meantime, we do have some reasonably priced options here in Canada and across the Americas – and there’s never been a better time to be a tourist in your own country. Take a moment to research what package deals are available in your jurisdiction, and keep checking in with us at Bodog to learn more about the wide world of luxury casinos.
