With the official nominations having just been announced, now’s the perfect time to explore the Golden Globes betting markets. Let’s jump right in and take a look at some of the more popular categories for the 83rd Annual Golden Globe Awards.
Best Director – Motion Picture
| Nominee | Odds |
| Paul Thomas Anderson – One Battle After Another | -700 |
| Joachim Trier – Sentimental Value | +600 |
| Jafar Panahi – It was Just an Accident | +650 |
| Guillermo Del Toro – Frankenstein | +650 |
| Chloe Zhao – Hamnet | +700 |
| Ryan Coogler – Sinners | +1200 |
Paul Thomas Anderson (One Battle After Another) is the overwhelming favourite to win the Golden Globe for Best Director, but there’s some value to be found on the rest of the board. Joachim Trier’s work on Sentimental Value is being praised for its subtlety and character work, while Guillermo Del Toro delivered another visual masterpiece with his version of the literary classic, Frankenstein. The Golden Globes have a history of surprise Director wins, so this could be a good category to back a longshot and hope for an upset.
Best Screenplay – Motion Picture
| Nominee | Odds |
| Paul Thomas Anderson – One Battle After Another | -105 |
| Jafar Panahi – It was Just an Accident | +120 |
| Chloe Zhao, Maggie O’Farrell – Hamnet | +240 |
| Ronald Bronstein, Josh Safdie – Marty Supreme | +375 |
| Joachim Trier, Eskil Vogt – Sentimental Value | +450 |
| Ryan Coogler – Sinners | +525 |
If you’re looking to avoid heavy favourites, this year’s Best Screenplay category is wide open. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another has the best odds right now, but all six nominees have a legitimate chance of winning. It Was Just an Accident isn’t far behind and continues to receive international acclaim. There’s also the Marty Supreme screenplay, which delivers that signature Safdie chaos and offers great upside at its current price.
Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture
| Nominee | Odds |
| Wagner Moura – The Secret Agent | -300 |
| Michael B. Jordan – Sinners | +270 |
| Jeremy Allen White – Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere | +1000 |
| Joel Edgerton – Train Dreams | +1200 |
| Dwayne Johnson – The Smashing Machine | +1500 |
| Oscar Isaac – Frankenstein | +1800 |
Wagner Moura has the inside track on Best Actor (Motion Picture) for his intense, yet controlled performance in The Secret Agent. Michael B. Jordan also has a real shot at this award and may finally take home some major hardware for his intense dual role in Sinners. Jeremy Allen White is another solid value pick at +1000 for his portrayal of rock icon Bruce Springsteen.
Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy
| Nominee | Odds |
| Rose Byrne – If I Had Legs I‘d Kick You | -160 |
| Emma Stone – Bugonia | +325 |
| Cynthia Erivo – Wicked: For Good | +550 |
| Amanda Seyfried – The Testament of Ann Lee | +550 |
| Kate Hudson – Song Sung Blue | +700 |
| Chase Infiniti – One Battle After Another | +750 |
This is another wide open category at this year’s Golden Globes, featuring several actresses who could easily walk away with this award. Rose Byrne is the odds-on favourite for her sharp comedic timing and great all-around performance in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, but nobody would be surprised to see Emma Stone called up on stage to accept this award for the second straight year and third time overall for her offbeat character in Bugonia.
Best Motion Picture – Animated
| Nominee | Odds |
| KPop Demon Hunters | -245 |
| Little Amélie or the Character of Rain | +425 |
| Zootopia 2 | +600 |
| Demon Slayer: Kimetsu No Yaiba – Infinity Castle | +1000 |
| Arco | +1200 |
| Elio | +1800 |
Thanks to its massive global appeal and unique animation style, KPop Demon Hunters is expected to win the Globe for Best Animated Movie. Little Amélie or the Character of Rain delivered a rich, emotional adaptation that critics adored, so it wouldn’t be a huge leap for the film to win out despite being a much smaller-scale production. And as a high-profile studio sequel, Zootopia 2 comes with built-in brand recognition and box office success, which could be enough to tilt the vote in its favour.
Best Television Series – Drama
| Nominee | Odds |
| The Pitt | -170 |
| Severance | +255 |
| The White Lotus | +700 |
| Pluribus | +1500 |
| The Diplomat | +1500 |
| Slow Horses | +1500 |
One of the night’s biggest awards, the Golden Globe for Best Television Drama is extremely competitive this year. The Pitt is the current betting favourite thanks to its gritty realism and high emotional stakes, but Severance has also drawn critical acclaim and is a real threat to win this award. Don’t count out The White Lotus either; the hit show won the Golden Globe for Best Television Limited Series in 2023 and could lead to a nice payout at +700 if it can also win for Best TV Drama.
