NFL Week 2 Odds & Betting Preview

It’s Week 2 of the NFL season, where we begin to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Whether you’re 1-0 and looking to keep the momentum rolling, or 0-1 and desperate to get back on track, every team has something to prove in the second week of the season.

Jayden Daniels NFL Bet

This week is loaded with can’t-miss games, from primetime showdowns to a rematch of Super Bowl LIX. With so many injuries, updates and storylines from around the league, let’s break down some of the week’s key betting matchups.

NFL ODDS

Washington Commanders (+3) at Green Bay Packers (-3)

We start the week off with a marquee matchup on Thursday Night Football, as the Commanders travel to Lambeau Field to take on the Packers. The Packers are currently 3-point favourites, but don’t be surprised if the line goes up to 3.5 before game time.

The Commanders had no trouble beating the Giants in Week 1, but it’s hard to gauge their play against such a shaky opponent. Jayden Daniels looks every bit the elite dual-threat quarterback we saw last year, and the new additions at running back (Jacory Croskey-Merritt) and wide receiver (Deebo Samuel) looked good in the team’s opener.

The hype is through the roof in Wisconsin following the Packers’ dominant win over the Lions in Week 1. Not only did the offence put up points at will, but the defence, buoyed by the addition of Micah Parsons, completely shut down Detroit’s potent offensive attack. If you plan on betting this one, it’s worth noting that since 2019, Green Bay is 16-3 against the spread (ATS) within their first 3 home games of the season.

Denver Broncos (-1) at Indianapolis Colts (+1)

The Broncos may not have been at their best last week versus the Titans, but they got the win and their defence proved it’s still one of the top units in the NFL. They’ll need a better performance from Bo Nix, who turned the ball over 3 times on Sunday. As long as Nix and the Broncos can clean things up on offence, this team will be tough to beat.

The Colts delivered one of the more surprising performances of Week 1, scoring on all 7 drives in the game en route to a 33–8 win over the Dolphins. In his first game under centre for Indy, Daniel Jones delivered the perfect start, helping the franchise end an 11-game winless streak on opening day.

While the Broncos defence had the best EPA/play in the NFL in Week 1, second on that list was the Colts. But you may want to factor in their opponent, as the Dolphins seemed completely lost on offence. Jones’ Colts debut was impressive, but he may be in for a rude awakening versus Denver this weekend.

Chicago Bears (+6) at Detroit Lions (-6)

In just his second game as an NFL head coach, Chicago’s Ben Johnson heads back to Detroit. The Bears are 0-1 and coming off a disappointing loss to the Vikings on Monday Night Football. Caleb Williams looked great to start the game before struggling in the second half. They’ll need a full 60 minutes from their sophomore quarterback if they expect to hang with the Lions.

The Lions may be the betting favourite, but they’re also 0-1 and probably a bit shell-shocked after getting pushed around by the Packers last week. Detroit was especially ineffective on the ground, putting up just 46 yards on the day. Luckily for Lions fans, the Bears gave up 136 rushing yards per game last season, the 5th-worst mark in the league.

Expect Detroit to make a point of getting back to what they do best: hard-nosed, ground-and-pound football. A healthy dose of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery should be just what the doctor ordered. It also doesn’t hurt that Jared Goff and Dan Campbell are 10-0 ATS as a duo since November 2022.

Philadelphia Eagles (-1) at Kansas City Chiefs (+1)

In one of the more highly-anticipated matchups of the year, the Eagles and Chiefs face off for a rematch of last year’s Super Bowl. The Chiefs got blown out 40–22 in that game, so you can expect some bad blood and a whole lot of betting action heading into this one.

After kicking off the 2025 NFL season last Thursday, the Eagles should be well rested for this matchup. Jalen Hurts looked good in the team’s opener, rushing for 2 scores and completing 19 of 23 passes for 152 yards through the air. Dallas Goedert led the team with 7 receptions, but the tight end is questionable for this contest with a knee sprain.

Kansas City had a rough start to the season; not only did they lose to the Chargers, but they also saw Xavier Worthy leave the game after a collision with teammate Travis Kelce. The speedy receiver managed to avoid season-ending surgery, but is day-to-day with no timetable set for his return. That’s the bad news. The good news is that the Chiefs haven’t started the year 0-2 since 2014, and Patrick Mahomes is 21-3 straight up (SU) following a loss.
