We’re just 2 weeks into the 2025 NFL season and there’s already been some big developments across the league. From major injury news to devastating 0-2 starts, a number of NFL teams are scrambling to get their season back on track.
Week 3 is set to kick off tonight and the schedule includes a number of compelling storylines. Bodog has odds available on every NFL game, but let’s start by taking a closer look at some of the more intriguing betting matchups heading into Week 3.
Miami Dolphins (+11) at Buffalo Bills (-11)
Thursday Night Football gets the week started with a modern telling of David versus Goliath, or in this instance, the Dolphins versus the Bills. It’s hardly a surprise to see Miami sitting at 0-2; the team looks lost on offence, putting up a combined 35 points over their first two games. Things are even uglier on defence, where the Dolphins have given up 66 points over that same span.
Meanwhile, the Bills look every bit like the Super Bowl contenders fans expected. They sit 2nd in the NFL in points scored (71) and are coming off an easy 31-10 win over the Jets. It’s worth noting that reigning MVP Josh Allen is dealing with a broken nose but he’ll remain under centre for Buffalo on Thursday night.
This is a primetime divisional game between a pair of AFC East teams, so you can expect the Bills to show up ready to play. The 11-point spread is the largest of Week 3, but that still may not be enough for the Dolphins to keep this game close.
Cincinnati Bengals (+3) at Minnesota Vikings (-3)
In a battle of the backups, both the Bengals and Vikings will trot out their second-string signal callers. Cincinnati has placed All-Pro QB Joe Burrow on IR as he awaits toe surgery, while Vikings QB JJ McCarthy is out multiple weeks with an ankle injury.
The Bengals are rolling with Jake Browning at quarterback in Week 3. The third-year pro stepped in last week when Burrow went down and overcame a three turnovers to lead his team to victory. Browning isn’t short on confidence and it helps that he has WRs Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins at his disposal.
Minnesota is once again without the services of McCarthy, who missed all of last season with a torn meniscus. The team will turn to QB Carson Wentz, who hasn’t started a meaningful game since 2022. While expectations are low for Wentz, he has proven to be a capable game manager and is backed by a strong Vikings defence.
Expect a closely fought battle between these two teams on Sunday, but give the edge to a Bengals squad that is 2-0 and looking to keep hope alive in Cincinnati.
Los Angeles Rams (+3.5) at Philadelphia Eagles (-3.5)
In one of the premier matchups in Week 3, the 2-0 Rams travel to Philadelphia to take on the 2-0 Eagles. Los Angeles flew under the radar over the offseason but the team has looked sharp to open the campaign. QB Matthew Stafford has played well considering he missed the entire pre-season, while the pairing of WRs Davante Adams and Puka Nacua has given the Rams one of the NFL’s most dangerous duos.
The Eagles have now won 18 of their last 19 games and show no signs of slowing down any time soon. QB Jalen Hurts leads a dominant run-first offence, with RB Saquon Barkley continuing to rack up yards. Their defence withstood a decent test last week in Kansas City and now looks to keep things rolling against a capable Rams passing attack.
The point spread for this game crossed the key number of 3, giving the Rams a good chance of covering, even if they lose outright. Los Angeles is 2-0 against the spread (ATS) this season and should be fired up to play the defending Super Bowl champs.
Detroit Lions (+5) at Baltimore Ravens (-5)
Week 3 ends with a great matchup between the Lions and Ravens on Monday Night Football. Detroit had a rude awakening to open the season, getting dominated by the Packers, but Dan Campbell’s squad bounced back in Week 2 with a 52-21 pummelling of the Bears. The running game got back on track, while QB Jared Goff went 23 of 28 passing for 334 yards and 5 touchdowns.
It’s a similar story in Baltimore, as the Ravens lost their season opener, only to respond in Week 2 with a 41-17 dismantling of the Browns. QB Lamar Jackson and RB Derrick Henry lead an offensive juggernaut that ranks first in NFL scoring, but Baltimore’s defence still has plenty to prove.
This should be an epic battle between two teams with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. Expect a back-and-forth game between two potent offences, and don’t be surprised if this one comes down to the final possession.
