From season-ending injuries to shocking upsets, the weekend was full of drama and suspense.

Here are your key takeaways from Week 4 in the NFL.

Jaxson Throwing Darts for G-Men

In one of the biggest upsets so far this season, the Giants earned their first win of the season over the previously undefeated Chargers, 21-18. This was the first career start for Jaxson Dart, and New York’s rookie quarterback looked sharp. Dart threw for a score and added another on the ground, leading the Giants to a huge win over Los Angeles.

This was an ugly loss for the Chargers. Justin Herbert was under siege throughout most of this game, finishing with two interceptions and throwing for just 203 yards versus a leaky New York pass defence. It got even worse after losing left tackle Joe Alt to an ankle injury, leaving them unable to slow down the Giants’ pass rushers.

Los Angeles is now 3-1 and should be able to bounce back if they can get their offensive line issues sorted out. The real takeaway from this game is that it looks like New York has found their next franchise quarterback in Jaxson Dart. While it hurts that the Giants lost Malik Nabers to a season-ending ACL injury, Dart’s performance is giving New Yorkers hope for the future.

Eagles Outlast Bucs, Stay Undefeated

The defending Super Bowl champions delivered another gritty performance Sunday. In a matchup between two of the NFC’s best teams, the Eagles held off a late charge by the Buccaneers for the 31-25 victory. It probably shouldn’t have been that close, with Philadelphia up 24-6 at the half, but the Eagles found a way to hold on for the win.

Tampa Bay may have lost, but the Buccaneers should be proud of their effort in Week 4. Despite getting completely outplayed in the first half, Baker Mayfield and company gave Philadelphia all they could handle down the stretch. After putting together fourth quarter comebacks in each of their first three games, this comeback bid was simply one too many.

The Eagles have now gone 20-1 over their last 21 games and are the only undefeated team left in the NFC. Having said that, their offence goes missing at times and their front line took a hit this week with both Lane Johnson and Tyler Steen suffering injuries.

Chiefs Silence Critics with Win over Ravens

To borrow Mark Twain’s famous words, reports of the Chiefs’ demise were greatly exaggerated. Everyone had written Kansas City off after starting the year 0-2, but the Chiefs are now back to .500 after a 37-20 win over the Ravens. Patrick Mahomes looked like his old self once again and Kansas City showed flashes of the team that’s represented the AFC in five of the past six Super Bowls.

It was an ugly loss for Baltimore, who also saw Lamar Jackson leave the game early with a hamstring injury. The Ravens offence looked completely overwhelmed by Kansas City’s blitzing scheme, with Jackson turning the ball over twice and Derrick Henry picking up just 42 rushing yards on the day.

The big takeaway for Chiefs fans is just how valuable Xavier Worthy is to this offence. With their speedy receiver back on the field, Kansas City’s passing game was far more explosive and looked the best it has all season. The big question in Baltimore is the status of Lamar Jackson’s hamstring injury. With the Ravens now 1-3 on the year, they’ll have little margin for error the rest of the way.

Packers and Cowboys Battle to 40-40 Draw

Nobody likes a tie, but Cowboys fans should be pleased following a strong showing from their offence. Dak Prescott led Dallas back from a 13-point deficit early, and again from four points down late in the game to force overtime. The Cowboys also got a strong showing from George Pickens, who had 8 catches for 134 yards and 2 scores while filling in for CeeDee Lamb as the team’s primary receiving threat.

While they didn’t lose the game, Green Bay has to be disappointed with the final outcome in Dallas. Jordan Love was near-perfect, Josh Jacobs ran well and Romeo Doubs caught three touchdown passes, yet it wasn’t enough to pick up the win. The tie also spoiled Micah Parsons’ homecoming, although the star pass rusher did manage to record seven pressures, three tackles and a sack against his former team.

The Packers are now winless in back-to-back weeks. It sounds even worse when you realize their opponents over that stretch were the Browns and Cowboys. The good news for Green Bay is they now have their bye week to figure things out and get back on track. The Cowboys still have a number of things to figure out, but one thing is clear: if Dak is rolling, this offence can flip the script on any opponent.

Looking Ahead to Week 5

The bye weeks have begun in the NFL, but there’s still plenty of great matchups to bet on in Week 5. It starts with a Thursday night game between the 49ers (3-1) and Rams (3-1). Los Angeles is currently favoured by 5.5 points, with the total set at 47. Check out the full schedule for a complete list of games and lock in your bets to cash in on Week 5 in the NFL.
